Art & Design
The way we teach Art and Design is through practical experience using a variety of materials and creative techniques. We value the process of creation as much as the product, and encourage children to develop the skills required to create artwork independently. Artwork is largely linked to whole-school topics.
Children are taught to:
Use a range of materials creatively to design and make products.
Use drawing, painting, modelling and sculpture to develop and share ideas.
Develop a wide range of Art and Design techniques using colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space.
Consider the work of artists (such as Picasso, Rousseau, or Clarice Cliff), craft makers and designers critically, and make links with their own work.
Children enjoy a range of creative experiences, including collage, papier mache, clay, and colour mixing with paint or ink.
